Battles, James E. age 97, of Naperville, IL, formerly of Richfield, passed away on April 28, 2018. Preceded in death by wife, Shirley and sister, Ethyl Fansler. Survived by son Dick (Janet) Battles, Naperville, IL; and daughter Kathy Battles Skinker, Annapolis, MD; grandchildren Michelle (Joe Butkiewicz) Battles, Stephanie Battles Kyle, Melissa (Michael) Walther, Kimberly (Brandon) McCline, Luke Skinker and Emma Skinker; and seven great grandchildren. As a US Army Surgical Tech, Jim served in Europe and North Africa with the 3rd Auxiliary Surgical Group. Jim worked as a lithographer until he retired in 1982. He cared for his wife, Shirley, until her death in 2001. He enjoyed playing poker, going to Las Vegas, target shooting and deer hunting. No services will be held. Arrangements by Dupage Cremations, West Chicago, IL. Interment at Fort Snelling National Cemetery, Minneapolis, Minnesota later this summer.
