Sorenson, Mildred "Milli" Virginia was laid to rest on Monday, April 16, 2018 at Fort Snelling in St. Paul, Minnesota next to her beloved husband of 55 years, Richard Keith Sorenson. Mildred passed away on November 30, 2017 after complications from a hip fracture. Mildred was born March 29, 1929 in Minneapolis, Minnesota to Harvey and Edith Snow. Milli, as her family and friends called her, grew up in Minnesota, attended Central High School and graduated from Monroe High School in St. Paul. As a young adult, she was a working model and a former Miss St. Paul. Milli married Rick in 1949 and they had five children: Robert, Wendy, Debby, James and Thomas. After her children were born, Milli worked part time for 12 years at Red Owl Stores in Minnesota. Milli moved to California in 1967 with her family where she continued her education at Moorpark College and UCLA. Milli moved to Nevada in 1978 when her husband was transferred. She was an office manager in various medical offices in both California and Nevada for 27 years and was an active member of both the California Medical Assistants and Nevada Association of Medical Assistants. She spent her life in community service as a Girl Scout leader, a Boy Scout den mother, serving on the Skyline Villas Homeowners Board of Directors, an active member of the VFW Auxiliary, and as an avid volunteer for the Assistance League of Reno/Sparks, Nevada for over 20 years. Milli was proud to be an American, selflessly served her community in many ways, and most importantly, devoted her life to her family and friends. Her beautiful spirit will be missed by all who knew and loved her. Milli was preceded in death by her parents, sister, husband and a grandchild. She is survived by her five children, eight grandchildren and several great grandchildren. Gifts in her memory can be made to the Scholarship Fund of the Congressional Medal of Honor Society, a charity of your choice, or a friend in need.
