She married Bill Okerman, also from Little Falls, in 1953 and the couple celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary in 2013. Donna and Bill began their family in Minneapolis and moved to Bemidji, MN, in 1963 when Bill took a job as a surveyor for the US Forest Service in the Chippewa National Forest. When Bill started Okerman Surveying in 1969 Donna jumped right in to support Bill by performing accounting, finance and secretarial duties at the young firm. She completed her Licensed Practical Nursing degree in 1982 at Bemidji's Northwest Technical College. Donna and Bill raised six wonderful children on the shores of Lake Bemidji. Donna enjoyed life in Northern Minnesota, especially fishing, scouting, golfing, water skiing and traveling with family and friends. She was devoted to her family and her Catholic faith. Donna and Bill sold their business and retired in 1992. In retirement, they spent their time traveling the US and Canada in their RV, wintering in Apache Junction, AZ, and summering at their home on Lake Bemidji. Donna was preceded in death by her husband Bill, parents, Harold ("Todd") and Cecelia ("Tillie") Tedford, and brother Dean Tedford.
