Jim 'Santo James Bevacqua' Bevacqua

Bevacqua, Jim 'Santo James Bevacqua' Jim Bevacqua died peacefully at home on April 16, 2018. He was 73. Born in 1945 in Tortorici, Sicily, he immigrated with his family to the United States in 1949. Jim grew up in Jamestown, NY. He excelled at building life long friendships and playing sports of all kinds, especially golf, bowling and tennis. As a teenager, he was City Tennis Champion in his age group. After graduating from Jamestown High School, class of 1962, and Jamestown Community College, Jim served in the United States Air Force from 1964 to 1968, including a year in Vietnam. After service, he graduated from Minot State University and earned his MBA from the University of Minnesota, where part time he also taught extension division accounting classes. Jim earned his CPA and enjoyed working professionally for many years, retiring from Old Republic International. In retirement, Jim devoted his time to family and friends; playing golf and cribbage, usually with a friendly wager on the side; and watching the financial news and markets. But more than what Jim did is how he lived - with boundless good humor and generosity. He is already greatly missed. Jim is survived by his wife of 30 years, Karen Caughey; daughters Andrea Bevacqua, Christina Bevacqua Bock (Beau) and their mother Deloris Bevacqua; sister Nina Triscari; and brothers Sebastian Bevacqua (Carrie) and Russell Bevacqua (Jill). He is preceded in death by parents Anthony and Mary Bevacqua; and sister Sara Vail (Richard). A celebration of Jim's life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Jim's honor are preferred to The Boys and Girls Club of Jamestown, NY or St. James Catholic Church, Jamestown, NY.
