Robert Vollmar 'Bob' Atmore

Atmore, Robert Vollmar "Bob" Age 79, of Minnetonka, MN & Duluth, MN. Died April 13, 2018. He is survived by former wife, Patricia Neer; current wife, Carolyn Cole; and children, Kristen Lund (Pete), Andrea Coleman (Mike), Alex Atmore and Emily Atmore; grandchildren, Jackson and Dylan Lund and Audrey, Charlie and Tommy Coleman; sister-in-law, Peggy Mason, of Duluth; sister-in-law, Christine Cole and brother-in-law, David Cole (Connie) of Helena, MT; numerous beloved nieces and nephews and his Labrador walking companions. Preceded in death by parents, George and Grace Atmore; brother, Bill Atmore; sister, Jean Mars and nephew, Mark Atmore. Bob attended Notre Dame and graduated from the U of MN-Duluth and the U of MN Law School. Bob began his law career with the US Dept. of Justice, Civil Rights Division, in Washington, D.C., part of which 3-year term was spent in Jackson, MS, in which he assisted with voter registration in the era of the Selma March. After the Justice Dept., he returned to his hometown of Duluth and practiced law with his father's former law firm of Sullivan, McMillan, Hanft and Hastings for a few years. He next joined the Mpls. law firm, which later became Lindquist & Vennum (now Ballard Spahr), and for 38 years practiced labor law and employment litigation and arbitration until his retirement. Bob was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and friend, known for his humor and wit and mentorship of younger lawyers. A celebration of Bob's life is scheduled for Thursday, April 26, at Gethsemane Lutheran Church in Hopkins with visitation at 2 PM and service at 3 PM. A reception to follow service will be held at the Calhoun Beach Club from 4:30-6:30 PM.
