Rice, Jill Elizabeth (Stetler) age 92, passed away peacefully on March 18, 2018. Jill was born on Nov. 30, 1925 in North Minneapolis to Marcella (Butler) and Jean Wadsworth Stetler. She married James Isaac Rice in 1950. They had eight children: Mary Rice, Sean Rice, Sheila Rice Lawson (Pope Lawson), Maura Rice (Joe Creber), Brian Rice (JoAnn Campbell-Rice), Brenna McShane, Devin Rice (Katie Connolly), Eamon Rice, adopted French son, Antoine Dionis and, of course, their faithful dog, Poochie. Jill led her life as "an instrument of peace" and was a secular Third Order Franciscan at her beloved St. Bridget Catholic Church Community. She was a joyful person and shared that joy with everyone she knew. She was Irish to the bone and always had a twinkle in her green eyes. "Grandma Jilly" had 13 grandchildren: Patrick, Erin, Brian, Maura, John Conor, Anna, Collin, Mariah, Brendan, Connor, Mary Kate, James and Emmet; and three great-grandchildren: Ellie, Cormac and Kate. Preceded in death by husband, Jim; daughter, Mary; son, Devin; grandsons, Patrick and Baby James; and brothers, Baby Jean, Jack and Jimmy. Jill was deeply loved by all who knew her including many nieces, nephews and countless friends. She was passionate about politics, opera, art, gardening and eating pansies.
