Engelking, Joanne Marie Age 66, of Minneapolis, Minnesota, passed away peacefully at her home February 21, 2018. Joanne was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on June 22, 1951, attended the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and graduated with a degree in journalism and mass communication. She pursued a career as a professional journalist for several years and then chose to raise her children. She loved nature, music, art and her family. She spent her time outdoors, with friends from church, and advocating for human rights. Toward the end of her life she suffered with several disabling illnesses that contributed to her death. She was preceded in death by her parents, Gilbert and Ruth Engelking and is survived by her sister Karen Engelking and brother Bruce Engelking both of the Milwaukee area, and her three children Erin Tyson, Matthew Tyson (Lindsey), Kevin Tyson (Kym) and two grandchildren, Charlotte and Wyatt. The Family will hold a memorial service at St. Joan of Arc Church, 4537 3rd Ave. S., Minneapolis, MN 55419 on March 24, 2018 at 11:00 A.M. There will be a visitation at the church at 10:00 A.M. In lieu of flowers, memoriams are welcome to further the education of her grandchildren Charlotte and Wyatt Tyson at Citizens Independent Bank of Hopkins.
