Lang, Craig Raymond Age 61, of Anoka, MN, embarked on his next adventure on Feb. 19, 2018, in Scottsdale, Ariz., after a sudden illness. He was born to Jeanne (Herrling) Lang and Raymond Lang Jr. on April 27, 1956, in Madison, Wis. Craig was an explorer, inventor, researcher, experiencer, and healer. As a software engineer in medical technology, he helped save lives and make life more livable. As a hypnotherapist, he helped many to resolve fear and trauma, and to find better mind-body health. To his many friends in Minneapolis and around the world, his friendship, sense of humor, and passion for life, people, learning, and inquiry touched and enhanced their lives, and made them smile. Craig had a lifelong passion for space, physics, computers, psychology, and spirituality. Inspired as a boy by the Apollo program, he wondered what and who was over the next hill, beyond the sky, out among the stars. An unforgettable home experiment was building a UFO detector and alarm under his bed, which the family cat soon set off in the middle of the night! Craig attended Madison West High School and the University of Wisconsin-Madison, majoring in computer and electrical engineering. He loved working in the UW physics lab, and was a member of Kappa Eta Kappa fraternity. After graduation, Craig moved to Minneapolis, where he continued seeking out new challenges: mountaineering; earning a Master's degree in software engineering at the University of St. Thomas; becoming a certified hypnotherapist and a creative writer; taking up ballroom dance; studying advanced math and quantum physics. For years Craig worked as a volunteer field investigator with the Mutual UFO Network (MUFON), where he was highly regarded. He authored several books about UFOs. Craig was also a Reiki practitioner, shaman, and avid traveler. His favorite places were the Badlands and Black Hills of South Dakota, Devil's Tower (which he climbed often), and New Mexico. Craig's spiritual interests led him to explore many paths toward personal growth and enlightenment. He was an active participant in the Lake Harriet Spiritual Community and the Theosophical Society in Minneapolis, as well as Valley Community Presbyterian Church in Golden Valley. Craig loved to laugh, dance, meditate, hike, climb, write, read, eat (but not cook), learn, and teach. He was one in a million, and is deeply missed by everyone who knew him. Craig is survived by his siblings, Chris, Tim, and Mary; uncle, Albert; aunt, Judy; ex-wife, Gwyn; niece, Nicole; nephew, Justin; many cousins; girlfriend, Mitzi; and his "girls," Stormy and Libby. He was preceded in death by his parents. Craig, our lives here on Earth will not be the same without you-may you go in peace and may you find the answers to your many questions! A gathering to celebrate Craig's life with friends and family will be held Sunday, April 29 at the Lake Harriet Spiritual Community in Minneapolis from 1:00PM to 3:00PM.
