Ramona A.G. 'Mona' Skjefte

Skjefte, Ramona A.G. "Mona" (Skrukrud) age 87, peacefully left us Thursday morning, January 18, 2018, while residing at St. Therese's Senior Living in New Hope, Minnesota. Ramona was born March 28, 1930 in Montevideo, Minnesota. She was the first of 10 children born to John E. Skrukrud and Gladys (Lerud) Skrukrud. Ramona excelled in school in Sacred Heart where she grew up. She shared stories about her younger life during the Depression and WWII; such as skiing off the roof on a snow drift, riding a horse to elementary school, and one that proved useful with 7 children, how to stretch food for a large family. After an early high school graduation, Ramona went to business school in Minneapolis. Soon after completion of her business classes, she married Willard A. Skjefte in Sacred Heart. They later moved to the Twin Cities where their family continued to grow. Being the consummate Mom, Ramona remained employed through most of the years they were raising their 7 children. She taught by loving example, exemplifying speaking the truth, willingness to help and consideration of others. Ramona is very much loved and is painfully missed. Ramona took great interest in the growth and adventures of her 12 Grandchildren Rachel, Austra, Ty, Daniel, Brandon, Nathan, Alicia, Adam, Arianne, Makayla, Matthew, Nolan, and her 7 Great Grandchildren Dalton, Grayson, Otto, Sophie, Oliver, Sabastian and Cora. Surviving Ramona are her 7 children, Lynne Skjefte (Lars Peterson), Cheryl Skjefte, Debra Skjefte, Kimberly (Richard) Holt, Barbara (Gregory) Rounds, Jon (Laura) Skjefte, and Carolyn (James) Rassier. Also surviving Ramona, are her 11 Grandchildren, 7 Great-Grandchildren, 1 sister and 4 brothers. Preceding Ramona in death is her husband Williard A. Skjefte, Grandson Adam Sellheim, 3 sisters and 1 brother. Funeral services will be held at Zion Lutheran Church, 1601 S. 4th Ave, Anoka, MN 55303 on Friday, January 26, 2018. Visitation is at 2PM and services begin at 3PM with reception following. Rev. Sue Wallager will be presiding. Interment will be at a later date in the Columbarium in Zion Lutheran Church. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred. A special thank you to Rev. Mike Reuckert along with Zion Lutheran Church for following Mom's care with comforting prayers and support.
