Jean Larson Emerson

Larson, Jean (Emerson) Of Richfield, MN, age 91, passed away on January 8, 2018. Jean was born in Eagle Bend, Minnesota to Emil and Ellen Johnson in 1926. She attended Eagle Bend High School. In 1948 she married Lawrence (Bubs) Larson, also of Eagle Bend. They settled in Minneapolis and later purchased a home in the new and growing community of Richfield. They raised four boys, all graduates of Richfield High School. She is survived by sons Tom (Barb), Jerry (DeeDee), Mike (Jana), Jon (Tina); 10 grandchildren Kelsey, Jamison, Reed, Allison, Kiersten, Beau, Ailee, Signe, Bradi and Cody; and 2 great grandchildren Briella and Addalyn. Jean was the life of their Richfield neighborhood and was devoted to her faith and church, Hope Presbyterian Church in Richfield. She was a devoted nurturing mother and grandma (Nana) and always the moral compass for her family. She took into her home many people and several families who needed a place to stay while recovering or just needing a jump start in life. She was an ardent remodeler of her home, much to the amusement of her husband Larry. She had an eye for color, furnishings, wall hangings and room design. She was an avid estate and garage sale shopper, always finding the best deals and loved antiques. Preceding her in death were her parents, husbands Larry Larson and later Wally Emerson. She lost sisters Ruth and Ramona in previous years, who also lived long and rewarding lives. Her loss creates a huge hole in the family, for she was always one to give, listen, support and work diligently for a better life for her family and many others, through her work and numerous volunteer activities. The last several years of her life, she persevered through physical frailties, but was always a spark for others and loved company. Rest mother, you deserve the glow of your life well lived as you walk with the Lord, as you always shared with us, that he would be there at the door welcoming you home at the end. In lieu of flowers, our mother requested donations to the Hope Church Camp for Youth. The Memorial Service is Friday, January 26 at 11:00 AM at Hope Presbyterian Church at 7125 Portland Ave. So., Richfield.
