Jenn Marie Young

Young, Jenn Marie age 101 of Edina, MN (formerly of St. Louis Park and Richfield, MN), died May 10, 2013. She was born November 21, 1911 in Hibbing, Minnesota. She graduated from Hibbing High School in 1928 and Duluth Teachers College. During the depression she was proud to teach English and citizenship to 12 immigrants, all of whom became citizens. She married her husband Carl B. Young just before he left for active duty in the Pacific in 1942. During World War II Jenn cared for the children of the women who worked at the Arden Hills munitions plant. After the war she worked for Litz Carpet Company. She was "Miss Windsor" in the Star Tribune Classified Advertising office for more than 25 years. She was preceded in death by her husband Carl; father Martin Munter; mother, Annaliesa Munter; brothers Van Munter, George Munter; sisters Ellen King, Blanche McGarrity, and Violet Lied; and niece Kim McGarrity. Jenn was a loving second mother to all of her nieces and nephews. She is survived by nieces and nephews Nancy Folkestad, John Munter (Lynne), Georgann Johnson (Gerald), Mary Ellen Nielsen (Laurits), James King, Meredith Evans (David), Martin John Lied (Anne) and many great nieces and nephews. She will be fondly remembered and deeply missed. A service of remembrance will be held Saturday, June 1, 2013 at 10:00am at Good Samaritan United Methodist Church, 5730 Grove St., Edina, MN.
