Sound Unseen
Love music and want to see an interesting mix of films in a short period? The 18th annual Sound Unseen film/music/art festival, launched on Wednesday, is giving Minnesota premieres to over 20 documentaries, narrative features and more through Nov. 12. A long-running landmark in the local cinema scene, it was hailed last year by the authoritative industry magazine MovieMaker as one of "The 25 Coolest Film Festivals in the World." This year's mixtape of movies about or inspired by music include the acclaimed documentary "Sammy Davis: I Gotta Be Me," the hot and heavy Romanian teen romance "The World Is Mine" and a nonfiction profile of Sex Pistols punk icon Johnny Rotten in "The Public Image Is Rotten." The films will be shown at the newly updated, expanded and spiffy Trylon Cinema and the good old reliable Bryant-Lake Bowl in Minneapolis.
