Maya Moore scored 11 points and Lynx teammate Lindsay Whalen had nine points and five assists, helping the U.S. women's Olympic basketball team defeat the U.S. Select team 88-84 on Monday night in Los Angeles.

With the score tied 84-84, Moore made four free throws in the final 40 seconds to secure the victory.

Elena Della Donne also scored 11 points for the Olympic team.

Trailing 73-61, Lynx reserve Natasha Howard helped fuel a 16-3 run by the Select team, which took an 77-76 lead with 4:05 left. Howard's three free throws with 1:13 remaining gave the younger team an 84-82 lead.

The Select team is comprised of top players from the WNBA who were't chosen to represented the United States in Rio next month.

Breanna Stewart hit a layup and Moore hit her free throws to rally the Olympians.

Howard led the Select team with 24 points, and Jewell Lloyd added 20.

Two other Lynx players saw action for the national team. Sylvia Fowles scored four points, and Seimone Augustus had two points and six rebounds.

Monday's game was the first of four exhibitions for Team USA leading to the Rio Games. Up next is France on Wednesday in Newark, Del.
