The list of 255 MLS players available in Tuesday's expansion draft is out and most notable of the 16 Minnesota United players on it are young defenders Eric Miller and Wyatt Omsberg.
Most of those 16 players that new FC Cincinnati could choose from are primarily comprised of players whose contracts the team already decided last month not to renew, Miller and Omsberg excluded.
Acquired in a May trade with Colorado, Miller, 25, is Woodbury native who started 13 of 18 games he played last season. Picked 15th in the 2018 SuperDraft, Omsberg, 23, started four of seven games he played last season.
The Loons' list of players already not returning includes Marc Burch, Sam Cronin, Fernando Bob, Ibson, Alex Kapp, Bertrand Owundi, Frantz Pangop, Jerome Thiesson and Collen Warner.
Also on it is Johan Venegas, whose contract was up without an option, as well as Maximiano and Alexi Gomez, both of whom were returned to their teams after they loan arrangements to United ended.
FC Cincinnati can pick as many as five players and no other MLS team whose players are eligible to be selected can lose more than one player.
The 11 players the Loons protected: Michael Boxall, Francisco Calvo, Ethan Finlay, Miguel Ibarra, Romario Ibarra, Brent Kallman, Kevin Molino, Darwin Quintero, Angelo Rodriguez, Rasmus Schuller and Bobby Shuttleworth.
Also protected are Abu Danladi, Mason Toye and Collin Martin because they are either classified as homegrown or Generation adidas players.
