In hindsight, the smoke machine probably worked a little too well.

When Minnesota United FC unveiled its inaugural Major League Soccer home and away kits on Friday at the Machine Shop in front of about 1,000 attendees, the music boomed, the bass dropped and the smoke, well, obscured.

But once the players stepped forward out of the cloud, along with the kids modeling the youth versions, the crowd could finally appreciate the gray home kits with a blue sash and white Target logo and the white away kits with a black Target logo.

Miguel Ibarra, Kevin Venegas, Francisco Calvo and Rasmus Schuller showed off the away kit while Brent Kallman, Abu Danladi, Christian Ramirez and Johan Venegas modeled the home version. Patrick McLain sported the all-blue with white Target logo goalkeeper getup.

The evening answered perhaps the most popular off-season question about the Loons as they approach their inaugural Major League Soccer season. Interest in the new threads was such that images of them were leaked on the internet on Thursday.

The Loons play their first match on March 3 at Portland. The home-opener is March 12 against expansion side Atlanta United FC at TCF Bank Stadium.
