The first two games of the Iowa-Gophers baseball series this weekend are going to be played at Target Field and not at Siebert Field, the university announced on Wednesday.
The series opener will be at 4 p.m. Friday, the second game at 2 p.m. Saturday. The series finale will be at 1 p.m. at Siebert Field as originally scheduled.
No. 25 Minnesota (23-10, 7-1 Big Ten) is in second place in the conference race; Iowa (22-11, 6-4) is in sixth.
University of Minnesota students will receive free admission with their valid Ucard; other fans can purchase tickets at the Target Field box office for $8.
Loons hit season ticket goal
Minnesota United announced it has reached its cap of 14,500 season tickets for 2018 and will start a waiting list for fans interested in season tickets at Allianz Field in 2019.
Fans can be put on the waiting list by purchasing five-plus or 10-plus match mini-plans for 2018.
U volleyball signs two
The Gophers volleyball team added two players for this fall.
Claire Sheehan, a 6-1 outside hitter from Isanti, Minn., is transferring to Minnesota after one season at Iowa.
The other addition is 6-1 middle blocker Paulina Swider of Lublin, Poland. The incoming freshman has played with her native country's junior national teams since 2014.
"[Sheehan is] a wonderful all-around volleyball player and she absolutely knows how to compete," Gophers coach Hugh McCutcheon said. "… [Swider] brings a wealth of international experience to our gym."

• Bloomington Jefferson named Mike Terwilliger its boys' hockey coach. Terwilliger, an Edina High School graduate, has spent the past two years working for Minnesota Hockey as a programs manager. Terwilliger, a member of the Hornets' state championship hockey team in 1988 and the Class 2A boys' tennis singles champion in 1989, played college hockey at St. Lawrence.
• Gov. Mark Dayton proclaimed Wednesday as UMD men's hockey national champions day and congratulated Bulldogs coach Scott Sandelin and UMD athletic director Josh Berlo on their visit to the Capitol.
• The St. Paul Saints will be heard on 93.3-FM and the iHeart Radio app in 2018. The Saints' new radio home will carry all 100 regular-season games plus any playoff games. The Saints' season opener is May 18 at the Gary (Ind.) SouthShore Railcats.
• Fred Boos of Wayzata, the director of the Minnesota Golf Association from 1993 to 1999, died April 13 after a long illness. He was 84. Boos was inducted into the Minnesota Golf Hall of Game in 2014; he helped develop The Pines at Grandview Lodge in Nisswa, Minn., in 1990.
• Gophers assistant baseball coach Rob Fornasiere and high school baseball coaches Mike Louden (Hastings), John Madsen (Lake Crystal-Wellcome Memorial), Ray Ross (Minneapolis Washburn), Randy Schaub (Renville County West), Jeff Tanner (Atwater-Cosmos-Grove City) and Ty Wacker (Jackson County Central) will be inducted into the Minnesota State High School Baseball Coaches Hall of Fame at a banquet Oct. 27 in Minneapolis.
• Apple Valley heavyweight Gable Stephenson, a four-time state high school champion, was named InterMat's prep wrestler of the year. He has signed with the Gophers.
• Minnesota-Morris outfielder Jackson Gessell was named to the D3Baseball.com' team of the week. He was 6-for-9 with five doubles and three RBI in a sweep of Crown College.
