The Saints' Mark Hamburger was selected pitcher of the week in the American Association after winning twice and improving to 3-0 with a 1.90 ERA.

Hamburger gave up six hits Sunday in a 4-1 win over Kansas City and gave up six hits last Tuesday in a 5-3 victory over Sioux Falls.

• The Saints' game at Joplin was postponed because of unplayable field conditions. The Saints and Blasters will play a doubleheader Tuesday.

5-year-old mare wins

Richies Sweetheart won the $75,000 Honor the Hero Stakes at Canterbury Park. The 5-year-old mare went gate to wire in the 5-furlong race with jockey E. T. Baird aboard, paying $6.80 to win. Mongol Bull finished second and Majestic Pride third.

Century College loses in Series

Niagara County used three runs in the 13th inning to eliminate Century College 5-2 in the third round of the NJCAA Division III Baseball World Series in Kinston, N.C.
