Hamline men’s hockey coach Cory Laylin was named the head coach of Team USA’s Under-18 entry in the Hlinka Gretzky Cup tournament, which will be played Aug. 6-11 in Alberta.

The team includes four Minnesotans — forwards Aaron Huglen (Roseau), Grant Silianoff (Edina) and Jackson Jutting (Savage) and defenseman Mike Koster (Chaska).

Israelsons lead MGA team event

Fueled by an eagle on the 14th hole, siblings Andrew and Emily Israelson posted a 7-under par 65 to take the opening-round lead at the Minnesota Golf Association Mixed Amateur Team Championship at Forest Hills Golf Club. The Israelsons enter Tuesday’s final round two shots ahead of Leigh Klasse and J.T. Johnson.

• Savage’s JDC Miller Motorsports earned its first victory in the International Motor Sports Association, winning Sunday’s Sahlen’s Six Hours at Watkins Glen (N.Y.) in the No. 99 Red Dragon” ORECA LMP2 car.

• The Saints lost 4-0 to Fargo-Moorhead at CHS Field. Only one of the four runs charged to new St. Paul pitcher Chris Nunn in 4⅓ innings was earned.
