Starter Patrick Fredrickson and reliever Max Meyer of the Gophers were named to D1Baseball.com's All-America freshmen first team on Friday.
Fredrickson, of Gig Harbor, Wash., made 19 appearances for Minnesota, including 15 starts, and was 9-0 with a 1.86 earned-run average.
Meyer, of Woodbury, tied a program single-season record with 16.
He was 2-3 with a 2.06 ERA. He is currently playing with USA Baseball's collegiate national team.
Meyer struck out cleanup hitter Yuma Tongu — the only hitter he faced — on three pitches to get a save in Team USA's 1-0 victory over Japan on July 4th in Durham, N.C.
It was Meyer's third save for the U.S. team, which is 7-1 this summer.

• Senior hammer thrower Nayoka Clunis of the Gophers will compete for her native Jamaica in the inaugural Athletics World Cup, a two-day starting Saturday in London. The event features the world's top eight track and field nations.
• The home floor of Concordia (Moorhead) basketball, volleyball and wrestling will have a new look for the 2018-19 seasons. The Cobbers' parquet floor in Memorial Auditorium, built in 1952, was just stripped, painted with a new design and sealed as part of an update to the arena. The main difference is the enlarged "C" logo in the middle of the floor.
• Three Minnesotans are part of first-year Omaha coach Mike Gabinet's first recruiting class of eight announced this week. They are forward Travis Kothenbeutel of Sauk Rapids and defensemen John Schuldt of Minnetonka and Jason Smallidge of Eagan. Kothenbeutel played in the NAHL this past season, the other two in the USHL. Schuldt is the younger brother of St. Cloud State defenseman Jimmy Schuldt.
