WASHINGTON — Minnesota Sen. Al Franken is definitely not running for president in 2020.

"I got way, way, way too much to do right now to even think about that, other than to say, 'No, I'm not going to do that,'" Franken told People Magazine in a story published Wednesday.

The former writer and performer on Saturday Night Live has been getting national attention lately for his tough talk against the Trump administration. The second-term Demoratic senator is also releasing a new book, "Al Franken, Giant of the Senate" this month.

Franken told People that his attention is on pushing back against the Republican healthcare bill that passed the House, improving the Affordable Care Act and ensuring the success of the special counsel's investigation of Russia's ties to the Trump presidential campaign.

Minnesota's other U.S. senator, Sen. Amy Klobuchar, has also been in the 2020 presidential mix. Unlike Franken, she has not categorically ruled out running.
