The Minnesota Grocers Association (MGA) held its fourth annual Bipartisan Bag-Off at the Minnesota State Capitol. A panel of industry leaders judges the contest based on speed, distribution of weight, proper bagging principles, along with style, attitude, and appearance. The winner will receive a trophy and $1,000 to be presented in their district to the food charity of their choice. The 2020 contestants were: House Speaker Hortman, House Minority Leader Daudt, Sen. Paul Anderson, and Senate Assistant Minority Leader Hayden. To demonstrate the food industry's commitment to consumer choice and the well-being of the communities we serve, baggers will use reusable bags. The MGA presented a check for $5,000 to Second Harvest Heartland, received by CEO, Allison O'Toole, on behalf of the MGA's 2019 statewide Bag Hunger Campaign.
