Artistry Awash: Watercolor Exhibition and Festival

If watercolor painting were an Olympic sport, Minnesotans would sweep the medals. In fact, the eight Minnesotans in this sure-to-be-sparkling show have a stunning array of national honors. Stan Fellows now lives in Denver, but the rest are still rooted here: Andy Evansen (Vermillion), Jane Freeman (Bemidji), Terry Genesen Becker (Minneapolis), Sandra Muzzy (Bloomington), Nanci Yermakoff (St. Paul), John Salminen and Cheng-Khee Chee — whose "Koi" is shown here — from Duluth. Their landscapes, still lifes, abstractions and conceptual pieces are top-notch. The hardest, most fragile and fugitive of art media, watercolor is the best at capturing those ephemeral moments that make life worth living. Reward yourself with a visit, demonstration or master class. (Opening 6-8 p.m. Fri., Bloomington Center for the Arts, 1800 W. Old Shakopee Rd., Bloomington. Ends Oct. 14. Free. 952-563-8575 or artistrymn.org)
