Authorities have identified a man who was found lying in a road in Minneapolis early Wednesday with a fatal stab wound.
He was Abdoulaye Nene Cisse, 27, of Minneapolis, according to the Hennepin County medical examiner, who said he died of a stab wound to the chest. His death is being investigated as a homicide.
A call to 911 about 4:30 a.m. sent police to a residential area near SE. 7th Street and SE. 5th Avenue in the Marcy-Holmes neighborhood, where officers found the man "suffering from what appears to be an assault," a statement from police read.
Officers provided emergency medical attention to the man until paramedics arrived and took over. Cisse was taken to HCMC and soon declared dead, police added.
The medical examiner said it appears that Cisse was stabbed in the street where he fell.
