Police are searching for one or more suspects after a man was fatally shot Thursday morning in north Minneapolis.

Officers were alerted by the city's shot spotter system to gunfire on the 1900 block of Newton Avenue N. When they arrived shortly after 5 a.m., they found the victim lying in the street with a gunshot wound, said Minneapolis Police spokesman Scott Seroka.

The man was taken to North Memorial Medical Center where he died, Seroka said.

No weapons were found at the scene and no one had been arrested, he said.

Investigators were canvassing the neighborhood in hopes of learning what led to the shooting.

This was the 10th homicide in Minneapolis this year.
