A 22-year-old man was charged for exposing himself to visitors in a children's area at Como Park Zoo and Conservatory Wednesday.
Police were called to the zoo and conservatory about 11 a.m. after a woman said the man, Joshua Davi Lor, exposed and touched himself in front of her and her 4-year-old grandson while they were at the frog display in the children's area.
"There were several people in the area when he did this," said police spokesman Steve Linders.
Lor, who is listed as homeless in the police report, was charged Thursday in Ramsey County District Court with one count of fifth-degree criminal sexual conduct.
According to police and the criminal complaint: The woman told Lor his conduct was wrong, and he apologized, pulled up his pants and walked away.
A zoo employee followed Lor while police were called. Lor allegedly told police at the scene that he touched his genitals, and that the only child who saw it was the woman's grandson.
"When asked how many people saw his penis, Lor said, 'A lot,' " the complaint said. "…Lor admitted he knew there were kids in the area."
Linders said such incidents at the zoo are "rare," and that there have been no recent similar reports.
Lor was charged in a domestic assault case earlier this year. He was found mentally incompetent and was diagnosed with schizophrenia.
