Macklemore's between-song rap Wednesday night at Target Center could probably be packaged as a new jam called "Minneapolis Love."

The Seattle rapper yakked at length about his love for Minneapolis and its indie hip-hop scene, the Soundset hip-hop fest and Macklemore & Ryan Lewis' early gigs at the 7th Street Entry and later First Avenue and the Minnesota State Fair. He even gave a shout-out to Jucy Lucy's.

He did not mention that before his Target Center show he stole over to First Ave (hoodie up, bodyguard in tow) and posed for a photo standing under his star painted on the club's facade.

He also didn't mention any specific names in the Twin Cities hip-hop scene (was Slug of Atmosphere an influence?), and he never mentioned Prince by name but did a pas de deux with a female dancer while a verse and chorus of the Purple One's recording of "Kiss" played.

Macklemore pointed out that Minneapolis and Seattle are sister cities. "I don't really know what that means," he said, "but we're relatives. I've always felt a kindred spirit with the folks in Minneapolis."

He babbled on some more and concluded: "If I ever wanted to move some place, I might end up here. No lies."
