Macbeth

Shakespeare's dramas have never gone out of style on Twin Cities stages, but rarely have they felt as politically charged as they do now. The Guthrie has Joe Haj's eloquent "King Lear," about a ruler who lives for flattery, even if it's fake. And now Park Square Theatre pulls back the curtain on its portrait of a craven and ambitious leader whose lust for power trumps all morality. Jef Hall-Flavin directs, with Michael Ooms in the title role and Vanessa Wasche as Lady Macbeth. Flavin highlights the religious underpinnings of the story in his interpretation of the 400-year-old classic. (7:30 p.m. Fri., 2 & 7:30 p.m. Sat., 2 p.m. Sun., 7:30 p.m. Wed.-Thu. Ends April 9. Park Square Theatre, 20 W. 7th Pl., St. Paul. $40-$60. 651-291-7005 or parksquaretheatre.org.)
