Sunday the Lynx were up 28 at one point over the winless San Antonio Stars, and were up 25 mid-fourth, when coach Cheryl Reeve emptied the bench.

So don't put much stock into the 80-66 final score. This win wasn't nearly as close as the final score indicated.

The Lynx, the WNBA's only undefeated team (6-0), having gone 23-0 in May dating back to 2012, now has five days off before playing in Seattle Saturday. Here are some thoughts on the game tonight:

--Points guards Lindsay Whalen and Renee Montgomery combined to score four points on 1-for-14 shooting. And yet they were perhaps the two most important players on the court tonight. They were the reason the ball moved so well on a night when Minnesota had 28 assists on 33 field goals made. Whalen had 10 assists and Montgomery had seven. Here's a stat for you: Since Whalen came here in 2010, the Lynx are 55-2 when Whalen get seven or more assists.

--Seimone Augustus' strong start continued tonight. She scored 12 points on 6-for-8 shooting, had four assists and two rebounds. She was the lone starter playing with reserves when the Lynx took control of the game in a 12-0 run that began late in the first quarter.

--it was another very efficient night for center Sylvia Fowles, who scored 14 points with 12 rebounds in just under 23 minutes of playing time. She also had three blocks, including one of Minnesota native and Stars rookie Nia Coffey.

--The Lynx scored 30 points off 25 Stars turnovers, while turning the ball over a season-low nine times themselves.
