Funeral arrangements have been announced for St. Paul firefighter and paramedic Shane Clifton who collapsed at his fire station and died suddenly Monday of cardiac arrest.

Clifton, 38, was exercising with his crew around 5 p.m. at Fire Station No. 14, on Snelling Avenue near Laurel Avenue, when he fell sick and collapsed. Clifton's colleagues rendered medical aid before he was taken to Regions Hospital, where he died.

Services for Clifton will be held at Gustavus Adolphus Lutheran Church at 1669 Arcade Street in St. Paul. The visitation will be Sept. 8, 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. The funeral will be Sept. 9 from 10 a.m. to noon. The burial will be at Fort Snelling National Cemetery on Sept. 9 at 1:30 p.m.

Clifton, who was a U.S. Navy veteran, will receive full military and fire service honors. The ceremonies are open to the public.
