The Blue Line was running on time after a weekend derailment knocked out service Saturday and Sunday, but traffic definitely was delayed.

Heavy traffic, sun-up slow downs and a spate of crashes led to slow moving traffic on a number of routes.

Among the worst traffic was on northbound 35W. A wreck at Franklin Avenue on the downtown exits blocked two lanes around 7:30 a.m. plugged traffic, and things remain thick from Crosstown to downtown at this hour.

The Crosstown sputtered from Gleason Road to 35W for eastbound drivers while westbound commuters were held up by a wreck at Penn Avenue. That tough drive persists as we hit the end of the rush.

A semi carrying animals overturned on Hwy. 19 at 11th Avenue in New Prague. That's got the roundbout out of service until further notice.

In the north metro, heavy traffic bogged down the drive on eastbound 94 from Albertville to Brooklyn Center. That commute is still taking about 30 minutes. Look out for a crash eastbound at Winnetka Avenue taking out the right shoulder.

Crashes on southbound 35W at County J and another at Hwy. 10 led to a traffic jam that is just now starting to loosen. It's still 30 minutes from the Forest Lake Split to downtown Minneapolis.

Southbound Hwy. 100 drivers ran into difficulty early Monday when a wreck at France Avenue tangled traffic in Brooklyn Center. That resulted in 30 minute trips from I-94 to the Crosstown.

East metro commuters escaped most of the madness as action was confined to the north and south metro. However, westbound 694 driver did get held up from Hwy. 36 over to 35E as a crash on southbond 35E at Little Canada road had traffic backed up into the commons during the mid-portion of the drive.
