A small single-engine plane crashed Friday evening in Pine River, Minn., according to the Cass County Sheriff's Office. Information about the number of passengers and injuries has yet to be released.

The National Transportation Safety Board announced on Twitter that it was investigating the crash of the Piper J-4A plane Friday. The Sheriff's Office expects to release more information Saturday morning.

Twelve planes of that make and model are registered in the state, according to the Federal Aviation Administration.
