Maybe you're that guy who whips out his smartphone 200 times a day. Or maybe you're the smug lady who thinks everyone else uses their smartphones too much.

Whatever the case, there are apps to check your gadget habit.

Checky, a free iOS app, promises to tell you how many times each day you look at your smartphone. It will also tell you where you are when you check your phone. If you're interested, you can share your stats with friends.

"By giving you insight into your phone checking habit, Checky helps you become more aware," reads the description in the iTunes app store. "This awareness can help you make changes to your phone usage, if you feel you need to make a change!"

Conveniently, Checky comes from the same company that makes Calm, an app that claims to help you "meditate, sleep, relax and much more." One app to alarm you about your constant connection and the other to take a break. (In case you're wondering, the average smartphone user checks his or her phone 150 times a day.)

If you're more interested in time spent on your phone, there's an app for measuring that, too. Moment ($4.99) tracks how long you spend on your phone each day, notifying you if you exceed self-imposed limits.

"Moment's goal is to promote balance in your life," according to the app's website. "Some time on your phone, some time off of it enjoying your loving family and friends around you."
