Hey, fellow homeowners: The sun is high, temperatures are moderating and the season for enjoying outdoor walks is here. It is also the season for hazardous, super-slick, icy sidewalks. Check the public sidewalk in front of your home. Unless you can walk the length of it without having to step on some ice, coat the slippery spots with poultry grit (only about $5 for a 25-pound bag at your local hardware store). Spare pedestrians and yourself the potential consequences of a fractured hip or wrist, or a concussion resulting from a preventable fall. LARRY TURNER, MINNEAPOLIS
