Lakeville North and Rochester John Marshall met on Saturday in the Class 4A, Section 1 boys basketball championship game for the sixth consecutive year. The outcome was the same as the previous five.

Lakeville North rallied for a 51-46 victory at Rochester Mayo Civic Center. The Panthers trailed by five at halftime and trailed 45-43 with 1 minute, 26 seconds left. For the Panthers (25-4), it's their seventh consecutive section title. The loss ended a 15-game winning streak for the Rockets (26-3).

Tyler Wahl led the Panthers with 14 points. Matthew Hurt led the Rockets with 23 points.

State tournament field

The Class 2A and Class 3A fields were seeded Saturday. In Class 2A, defending state champion Minnehaha Academy was seeded No. 1 and will play Jordan in the quarterfinals Wednesday. Brooklyn Center was seeded No. 2 and Caledonia was seeded 3.

In Class 3A, six-time defending state champion DeLaSalle was seeded No. 1 and will play Hermantown in the quarterfinals Wednesday. Austin was seeded No. 2 and Mankato East was seeded No. 3.

Postgame fight probed

The Minnesota State High School League is looking into what St. Cloud police are calling a large fight involving players and fans after the Minneapolis North-Brooklyn Center Class 2A, Section 5 boys' basketball title game Friday night at St. Cloud State. No injuries were reported, police said.

The incident apparently resulted in the postgame medal ceremony being cancelled. About 12 police officers responded and helped with dispersing the crowd and escorting players and fans to their buses.
