Pitcher Kyle Gibson is the Twins' nominee for the Roberto Clemente Award, which is given to the Major League Baseball player who "best represents the game of Baseball through extraordinary character, community involvement, philanthropy and positive contributions, both on and off the field."

Gibson is scheduled to pitch tonight for the Twins against the Washington Nationals at Target Field after coming off the injured list.

The veteran pitcher and his wife, Elizabeth, had their third child last week. They have been working with relief organizations since 2011, including work to rescue trafficked children in Haiti and the Dominican Republic. The Gibsons are also active with the Twins Community Fund and with Christian and urban youth programs.
