Two Twin Cities event spaces have been wed after the sale of the historic Van Dusen Mansion in Minneapolis to the owner of the A'Bulae event venue in St. Paul.

The Van Dusen Mansion, on Lasalle Avenue in the Stevens Square neighborhood, was sold for $3 million, according to an electronic certificate of real estate value made public last week. The deal closed in January.

The buyer is listed as 255eventure LLC, whose manager is Tim George, owner of the upscale event space in downtown St. Paul.

The mansion, which was built in 1892 and is on the National Register of Historic Places, was sold by Van Dusen LLC, a group of owners that includes local attorney Jeff Anderson, who is known for his work on clergy abuse cases.

Anderson and his group bought the 12,000-square-foot mansion for $1.55 million in 2010 and helped the building become a premier event center that specialized in weddings and other gatherings. Previously, the mansion had been the offices of money manager Trevor Cook, who was convicted in 2010 of running a $194 million Ponzi scheme.

Centennial Shops sells for $32M

The Centennial Shops center in Edina has been sold for more than $32 million to a Michigan-based real estate investment trust, the firms announced.

The shopping center is more than 85,000 square feet and has nine shops, including the Container Store, Pinstripes bowling and restaurant and the West Elm furniture store.

It is located on Gallagher Drive off France Avenue and down the street from the Galleria and the Southdale Center shopping malls.

Centennial had been owned by Carlyle-Cypress Edina LLC, a venture of the New York investment firm Carlyle Group and Dallas developer Cypress Equities. Ramco-Gershenson Properties Trust, which also owns the Woodbury Lakes shopping center, was the buyer.

"The acquisition of Centennial Shops demonstrates our strategy of acquiring high-quality retail properties in attractive first-ring metropolitan markets," Dennis Gershenson, Ramco-Gershenson chief executive, said in a statement.
