A jury found a 27-year-old from Minneapolis man guilty of shooting a Mounds View man during an argument over a drug deal, according to the Hennepin County Attorney's Office.
It was the second murder trial for Lannon Burdunice, who was accused of killing Joshua Hofmann, 31. Last fall, a jury could not reach a verdict and a mistrial was declared.
But the case was retried on Feb. 26, and a jury took less than three hours Thursday and Friday to find Burdunice guilty of second-degree murder, acquitting him of first-degree murder.
He faces 27 to 38 years in prison with a sentencing hearing scheduled April 24.
According to the County Attorney's Office, on July 19, 2016, Hofmann and his girlfriend drove to 66th and Camden avenues N. in Brooklyn Center to buy marijuana from Burdunice.
Hofmann's friend testified that Hofmann got into an argument with Burdunice over the price of the marijuana. Burdunice, standing outside the car, shot Hofmann twice.
