Address: 5500 94th Av. N., Brooklyn Park

Type: Medical

Size: 20,000 square feet

Developer & architect: Ryan Cos.

Details: PrairieCare, a mental health care provider, will get more space with a new multitenant medical office building in Brooklyn Park.

PrairieCare last year opened a 50-bed inpatient hospital in Ryan Cos.' 610 Zane Business Park, formerly known as the Astra Village area. That 66,600-square-foot building, owned by North Dakota-based IRET Properties, is in the southeast quadrant of the Zane Avenue and Hwy. 610 interchange.

Immediately to its east along the eastbound Hwy. 610 entrance ramp is another 4.5-acre parcel that will now become the site of a new office building to be anchored by PrairieCare. The 20,000-square-foot, two-story structure will be owned as well as designed and built by Minneapolis-based Ryan.

PrairieCare has opened outpatient facilities in Edina, Woodbury, Maple Grove, Chaska and Rochester in the past eight years, responding to demand for psychiatric services for children and adolescents. That includes day counseling and learning programs for school-aged children, which it will provide on the entire second floor of the new building.

The first-floor space is to be divided and leased to other medical office users. The new building and its 198-space parking lot are to be accessed by an extension of 94th Avenue past its current terminus at the PrairieCare Hospital, to be paid for by the developer.
