It's a cheapskate remodeler's dream sale. Not only is nearly everything in Habitat for Humanity's Restore stores 50% off Saturday, but Habitat's prices are already low to start. Habitat Restore locations support construction, rehab or repair of homes for financially-challenged working families. Restore is one of the few thrift shops in the Twin Cities with an emphasis on home furnishings, furniture and building supplies.

The sale runs from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 27 at the Minneapolis (2700 Minnehaha Av., 612-588-3820) and New Brighton (510 County Rd. D West) locations.

Restore manager Jill Carmody highlighted some of the best deals. The Minneapolis store has new soaking bathtubs from $323 (prices listed are after the discount), central air units from $500, glass wall tile from $39/box, and air vent covers from a quarter.

New Brighton has Kohler shower doors from $50 and entire kitchens from $273. Both stores have sample curtains at $3, safety vests $1, Holtkotter lighting fixtures at 90% off retail, carpet for 25 cents per square foot, tile, laminate, vinyl and hardwood flooring at 50 cents/square foot and electric stoves from $43.

"Our most experienced shoppers check a few times throughout the week for the items that they have their eye on and recruit family and friends to help get the items home on Saturday," Carmody said.

Credit cards and cash are accepted for payment. The stores each have only three checkout lines and the lines can get long during the sale. If crowds and wait times aren't your thing, but you still want a discount, go to one of the locations with an item or more to donate. Anyone making a household donation gets a coupon for 20 percent off their entire purchase. Coupons cannot be used for additional discounts on Saturday.

Paint from Amazon recycled paint and new paint supplies are not included in the sale. Restores are open Tuesdays through Sundays.
