The coolest tribute show in town after two fun yet meaningful previous installments, the Girl Germs Live Tribute concert will return Dec. 5 at the Turf Club. Tickets to the third edition go on sale Friday at noon via eTix.com and First Ave outlets for $10. Like the first two shows, the lineup features a diverse array of local acts (women and men) who each pay tribute to an equally eclectic mix of women artists. Here's who's playing, and who they're covering:
- NONA MARIE: The Anonymous Choir and Dark Dark Dark leader will tackle New York punk legend and celebrated poet and author Patti Smith. Not that any special timing was needed, but the tribute set will coincide nicely with publication of Smith's much-ballyhooed new book "M Train."
- MINA MOORE: A backup singer to Caroline Smith, alumnus of the teen group Sugar Divas and powerful frontwoman in her own right, Yasmina Moore-Foster will take on Janet Jackson. That's a tall one for Moore to pull off considering Ms. Jackson's local connections via Jam and Lewis, plus the fact that she will have performed here just a month earlier (Nov. 1 at Target Center).
- BAD BAD HATS: Currently on tour with Mynabirds touting their buzzing full-length debut "Psychic Reader," Kerry Alexander and her catchy guitar-pop band will set out to prove that nobody is too cool for Sheryl Crow.
- SUZIE: Night Moves band member Mark Ritsema and his glammy psyche-pop outfit won't be the first dudes to break out into "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun" and other Cyndi Lauper classics. Ritsema was also part of the surprisingly lovely tribute Night Moves paid to the Cranberries at the first Girl Germs show in May 2014 at First Ave.
- BRUISE VIOLET: Already named after a song by local underground heroes Babes in Toyland, the millennial punk trio will stick to the Generation X indie era and pay tribute to thrashy New York pop-punkers the Lunachicks.
