Aiming for 8th win in row vs. Leafs
Preview: One of the NHL's best road teams last season, the Wild will look to improve a middling 2-3-1 road record this season in the second stop of a four-game trip. It has a seven-game winning streak against Toronto, its longest active win streak against any team. The Maple Leafs ended a two-game losing streak with a 4-3 shootout victory over Vegas on Monday, but leading scorer Auston Matthews might not play against the Wild. Matthews, among the NHL scoring leaders with 10 goals and nine assists, did not practice Tuesday (undisclosed injury).
Players to watch: Wild forward Eric Staal, second on the team in goals (five) and points (nine), has three goals and an assist in his past three games against Toronto. Wild goaltender Alex Stalock is expected to make his first career start against Toronto.
Numbers: Matthews, the NHL's rookie of the year last season, has played 104 consecutive games and has not missed a regular-season or playoff game since beginning his NHL career.
