Preview: The Lynx lost for the first time this season Tuesday at Seattle, in large part to a defense that allowed the Storm to shoot 59.3%, the fourth-best by a Lynx opponent ever. The Lynx were up four with 9:07 left and up a point with 4:12 left but were outscored 10-2 the rest of the way. This game returns the Lynx to Target Center, where they are 2-0 this season and where they will play seven of their first 10 games this season. The Mercury, playing without star guard Diana Taurasi, have played just two games. They lost their opener at Seattle, but rebounded with an impressive 86-84 victory over Las Vegas at home in Game 2.
Players to watch: Lynx rookie F Napheesa Collier's 17 points in Seattle upped her season average to 14.5 pointe per game — tops among WNBA rookies. C Sylvia Fowles is averaging a double-double (14.5 points, 10 rebounds). G Odyssey Sims' five points in Seattle (on 2-for-8 shooting) marked the first time she didn't score in double figures. Phoenix F DeWanna Bonner is averaging 21.5 points, 10 rebounds and 1.5 blocks. C Brittney Griner is averaging 18 points and seven rebounds.
Numbers: Both teams' starting fives are averaging in double figures in scoring. Phoenix's bench has scored just five total points in two games this season. The visiting team has won seven of the past 10 meetings between these two teams.
Injuries: Lynx G Seimone Augustus (knee surgery) is out. Phoenix G Taurasi (back surgery) is out; F Camille Little (foot) is questionable.
