Sebastian Vidmar's power-play goal in the 15th minute of the opening period gave the Dutchmen a 2-0 lead and proved to be the winner as they upset No. 3 North Dakota 4-1 on Friday night in a nonconference game at Ralph Engelstad Arena.

Christian Wolanin of UND cut the lead to 2-1 at 3:27 of the third, but 52 seconds later, Vas Kolias got his first goal of the season for Union. Jake Kupsky stopped 37 shots for the Dutchmen, Peter Thome 17 for UND.

Big Ten

Ohio State 3, Michigan 2: John Wiitala and Freddy Gerard scored goals just 68 seconds apart a third of the way into the final period to lead the No. 15 Buckeyes over the host Wolverines. Wiitala's came on a power play. Sean Romeo had 31 saves for the Ohio State, Hayden Lavigne 33 for the No. 17 Wolverines, who got their second goal when Josh Norris scored with 16 seconds left.

Penn State 7, Michigan State 2: Liam Folkes and Sam Sternschein each had two goals as the Nittany Lions routed the visiting Spartans. Penn State took a 4-1 lead in the opening period. Taro Hirose and Brennan Sanford had the goals for Michigan State, which was outshot 37-29.

Princeton 4, Bemidji State 1: Jay Dickman scored for the Beavers 17 second into the game, but the host Tigers got two goals late in the second period and two more in the third to pull away.
