Here is a heads up for motorists who use Interstate 35W in downtown Minneapolis. The freeway in the vicinity of the Franklin Avenue bridge will be closed during the overnight hours Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday nights.

The Minnesota Department of Transportation will be working on the Franklin Avenue bridge, which is supposed to be open by late spring.

Specifically here's what's closed and when:

10 p.m. Tuesday to 5 a.m. Wednesday: Northbound lanes between 26th Street and I-94. While access to downtown Minneapolis will remain open, the ramp from northbound I-35W to eastbound I-94 will be closed. The official detour will route drivers west on Crosstown Hwy. 62 to northbound Hwy. 100 to eastbound I-394 to eastbound I-94.

10 p.m. Wednesday to 5 a.m. Thursday: Southbound lanes from I-94 to 26th Street. Access to south I-35W from downtown Minneapolis will remain open.

10 p.m. Thursday to 5 a.m. Friday: Northbound lanes leading to the downtown exits of 5th Avenue, Grant Street and the ramp from northbound I-35W to westbound I-94. The official detour sends drivers west on Crosstown Hwy. 62 to northbound Hwy. 100 to eastbound I-394 to east I-94 to northbound I-35W.

10 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Saturday: Southbound lanes from downtown Minneapolis, including ramps from 12th Street and 4th Avenue along with the ramp from eastbound I-94 to southbound I-35W.
