Sen. Al Franken has a new chief of staff. Franken's communications director, Casey Aden-Wansbury, will replace current chief of staff Drew Littman who leaves after two years. Littman, who has led Franken's staff since Franken arrived in Washington in 2009, has yet to decide where he will work next. Littman, a lawyer, has worked in other congressional staff jobs and as a lobbyist. He leaves on good terms with his former boss. "I'm grateful for the tremendous support that Al and his wife Franni have given to me and the entire staff, which has provided the foundation for both professional success and long-term friendships," Littmansaid in a statement. In a statement Franken called the team assembled by Littman "exceptional." He cited Aden-Wansbury for "executing a communications strategy to navigate some uncharted territory. Because of her sound judgment, the press corps and the people of Minnesota have come to know me as a senator focused on working to improve the lives of my constituents and all Americans." Franken also announced the promotion of several other staff members. Press secretary Ed Shelleby has been promoted to communications director. Deputy press secretary Alexandra Fetissoff will take over as press secretary. And Kris Dahl will take on a role as communications assistant.
