A four-vehicle crash in south Minneapolis on Sunday morning has killed one man and left at least four other people injured, police said.

The incident happened at 9:36 a.m. at 26th Street and Blaisdell Avenue S. Two vehicles traveling south on Blaisdell ran a red light and crashed into two vehicles traveling west on 26th.

Three people in one of the vehicles that was at fault fled on foot. Three others in the second vehicle at fault stayed at the scene.

A man riding in one of the vehicles on 26th Street died at the scene. Police said the remaining four victims were taken to Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis with noncritical injuries.

The dead man's name and exact cause of death will be released by the Hennepin County medical examiner's office.

Officers located one of the people who fled the incident; that person was interviewed by investigators and released.

Immediately following the incident, officers canvassed the area, talking to residents and business owners. Investigators are hoping to find more witnesses or see if any surveillance video in the area may be helpful in the case.
