Gophers women's track edges Wisconsin

The Gophers won eight events, including a school record in the women's shot put by Kiley Sabin, in an 82-80 victory over Wisconsin in indoor track and field in Madison, Wis.

Sabin threw 56 feet, 4 inches, breaking the 54-4¾ mark posted by Aubrey Schmitt in 1999.

The Gophers led 78-73 after winning the 1,600 relay, so the meet came down to the triple jump, where a runner-up finish by Shanique Wright (41-7) and fourth place from Emma Spagnola (37-6¾) provided the final margin.

Madeline Strandemo won the mile (4:53.28) and 800 (2:12.66). Kimberly Golding defended her 60-meter hurdles title from 2016 in 8.22 seconds, and Heta Tuuri won the high jump at 5-9¾.
