Fortune Magazine and Great Place to Work have named 3M Co. as one of the 25 world's best multinational workplaces.
The global recognition announced Wednesday considered employees' assessments of their jobs, managers, coworkers, training opportunities and work/life balance in determining who would make the list.
Maplewood-based 3M has about 89,446 global employees in 38 countries.
Offcials at Fortune and Great Place to Work said they evaluated various workplaces around the globe before making their choices for their 2016 list. "From thousands of companies considered as great workplaces, 3M stood out with an impressive 15 national Best Workplace titles around the globe," award officials said.
To be eligible for the "World's Best" list, companies had to have appeared on at least five national best workplaces lists. Those lists rank firms based on the results of employee trust-surveys and culture audit assessments. Candidates also needed to have at least 5,000 employees worldwide, and 40 percent of employees located outside their headquarters country.
