Minnesota remained awash in water Saturday in the wake of last week's heavy rains, with lakes and rivers brimming and roads still closed in some areas.
Portions of Hwy. 169 remain closed in both directions between Interstate 94/694 and 77th Avenue N. on the Maple Grove/Brooklyn Park border because of flooding, according to the state Department of Transportation. The road is expected to remain closed through Sunday night.
The Twin Cities' northern suburbs were one of the spots that got several inches of rain last week.
In southern Minnesota, which also got soaked, a "no wake zone" was issued Saturday by the Blue Earth County Sheriff's Office for Madison Lake, Ballantyne Lake, Duck Lake and Lake George. Lakeside residents are experiencing submerged docks, debris in the water and vulnerable shorelines, according to the sheriff.
In Northfield, Carleton College's Laird Stadium athletic field was covered with water. Luckily, the football team is on the road this weekend.
While floodwaters were receding in many places, rain that was expected overnight Saturday will keep things soggy. Showers are possible again Sunday and Monday.
By Tuesday, the sun will re-emerge and drier weather should prevail through the rest of the week, according to the National Weather Service in Chanhassen.
