Emily and Beau Bridges

During the past five years, Twin Cities actress Emily Bridges has completed her education and acted on various stages, and on screen as the star of Patrick Coyle's 2015 Minnesota-set film "The Public Domain." But she has not called much attention to her heritage. She's an artist, after all, making her own way. But now she's teaming up with her famous father, actor Beau Bridges, for a staged reading of "Acting: The First Six Lessons," which they co-wrote. Adapted from a 1933 book by Richard Boleslavsky — a Stanislavski-trained actor turned instructor and Hollywood director, whose students included such luminaries as Lee Strasberg, Stella Adler and Harold Clurman — the narrative centers on a veteran acting teacher and a budding actress who gets some life lessons from her coach as well. When the play premiered in Los Angeles in 2010, L.A. Weekly wrote that "this stylishly mounted and smoothly executed production is worth viewing if only for Emily Bridges' translucent presence as a fervid young artist."
